Contactless and Proximity Card Logon Support
naviGO Workstation seamlessly and dynamically supports the introduction of HID’s line of contactless cards, including the 2k, 16k, and 32k iCLASS cards, plus legacy PROX cards, for use with Windows® logon. When utilizing iCLASS cards, naviGO Workstation enforces strong, mutual authentication between the card and the reader/application through the use of a patent-pending security model that is not-only capable of supporting secure, Windows® logon, but also is extensible to support various encryption and digital signature models in the future.
Emergency Access Logon Support
naviGO Workstation seamlessly and dynamically supports Emergency Access, which is the ability for a user to answer questions previously setup, for use with Windows® logon. This is useful for many lost/unavailable card scenarios. The administrator has the option of turning this feature on/off through the application. This is useful for organizations that desire to force users to use strong authentication to logon, especially for supporting contactless logon.
Secure My Windows® Password Support
naviGO Workstation can secure a user’s logon password by randomizing to nearly a 1024-bit key. It is like having a 63-character Unicode password, even with some characters that are not printable/type-able, thereby helping to ensure that an attacker would not be able to brute-force guess the user’s password. The user is still, of course, able to utilize stronger forms of authentication such as Emergency Access, or go true two-factor authentication via contactless card or contact card logon.
Integration with naviGO Server 2009
naviGO Workstation ships with its companion product, naviGO Server 2009. The combination of the two products allows end-users the capability of truly having emergency access to their desktops without requiring users to know their Windows® password. naviGO Server is critical to allowing synchronization between various installations of naviGO Workstation, thereby allowing users to “roam” from desktop-to-desktop, and have their credentials follow them – even to desktops they have not enrolled on! Simply set the “Server URL” for the application to point to your instance of naviGO Server, and the application automatically takes care of everything else.
